I was surfing around today on the Citizens website Auburnpub.com and came across their voting booth question, Do you support naming the Emerson Park entrance road off East Lake Road after the late Thommie Walsh? Intrigued by this I looked up Thommie Walsh on google and realized that he was a famous Broadway dancer/choreographer who was born and died in Auburn, NY. I have to admit it's very embarrassing to not know who this well accomplished and famous Auburnian was. I think it would be wonderful to dedicate the park entrance to him. Especially considering that the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse sits there as well.
Auburn has the potential to become a cultural center and I think we all need to start working towards that. If we could ever get a theatre festival here in the summer it would bring thousand's of people to our humble city and with people comes patronage to local business's. We sit in this one of a kind beautiful finger lakes region and we need to start recognizing and developing this. This topic doesn't necessarily have to do with real estate but the more we develop our city the better our real estate and business outlook in general will become. Just some food for thought.
